We have all moved at least once in our lifetime and it can be very stressful and overwhelming. Especially, if you are moving across the country.
Have you ever hired a moving company before? I personally have not, but many of my clients have. Since interviewing and hiring a moving company is a service I provide for my client, I thought it might be good to create a list of questions to ask movers. Here is the list I came up with.
1. How long have you been in business?
2. Are you licensed for out of state moves?
3. What type of insurance do you carry?
4. Do you provide packing and unpacking services?
5. How many people will you send for the move?
6. Is your crew bonded?
7. What items do you not move?
8.What am I charged for? (time, people, mileage, packing supplies)
9. What kind of insurance coverage do you offer and what are the costs?
10. Are my belongings covered if I pack them myself?
11. How long will it take to pack and load?
12. How long will it take to unpack and unload?
Be sure to get a written estimate and review all charges in detail. Make sure you understand what’s involved in the estimate and what items may change in the actual move.
I also put together this video with some common questions to ask. Some are taken from the list above.
